Vlada Krassilnikova is a lady of many talents. Born in Russia, she is fluent in Russian, English and French. As a young girl she practises gymnastics at an international competition level. She soon turns to dance, practising first in Moscow then in Paris where she attracted the attention of choreographers from the famous Moulin Rouge where she stays as a soloist for ten years. Photographed from all sides, it was not long before she took the camera herself. The artist plunges the viewer backstage allowing us to share the intimacy of the dancers. She enhances the contrast between "shadow and light" haunting night's atmosphere. Vlada Krassilnikova thus reveals herself as a privileged witness of the border linking stage and backstage: between intimacy and unveiling, exhibition and modesty, and above all between affection and harshness.
